Last night Searching for Sugarman won the Best Documentary award. The interesting news here is the director ran out of money and ended up shooting parts of the movie with an iPhone using an app called 8mm Vintage Camera. The best part is its just not shooting with an iphone to make scenes look like they were shot with a phone, but to make scenes which are indistinguishable from the real 8mm footage. I'd call this a success and more proof of the big shift to mobile phones as cameras.
